Blog posts to complete this week....

1. Create a pitch for music video.
In class we have been working on your music video pitches. To complete the pitch you need to refer to the Pitch handout and the good student examples in the blog post below.

2. Generating ideas using lyrics.
Synaesthesia– seeing the sound in your head. Print off a copy of the lyrics, stick them onto a piece of sugar paper and work together as a group to explore possible ideas.

3 . Create a moodboard for music video.
The moodboard will reflect your initial ideas for your promotional package. Your moodboard should be informed by:

4. Research the institutions that might produce and exhibit your music video.
Research the production institutional context of a music video that is of a similar genre to yours. Try and find out:

  • The record label
  • Music Video Budget
  • Anything else about the production of the video e.g. use of special effects / stars / notable directors.

Next, consider the various platforms that your audience could consume your video. Traditional Media V New Media would be a good starting point.
Try to use key terminology when explaining where they might watch the music video e.g.:

  • Web 2.0
  • Technological convergence
  • User generated content

5. Outline the target audience for your music video and post this on your blog.
Use the profile on your pitch as a starting point and add more depth to. Try to make the post really visual.
